A Raised Dome. A Wide, Round Pressing Surface.

The CWB 401 features a 98 mm outer top diameter and a raised curved surface. Explore its shape in both the front and side views.

A Distinctive Raised Dome

The CWB 401's pressing surface curves upward. The side view shows the raised profile and broad circular shape.

Designed for arcade controls operated with the palm as well as the fingertips. Plan your layout around its broad, rounded surface.

See Its Size in Your Hand

With a 98 mm diameter, this large button offers a different pressing area from smaller rectangular buttons. The hand photo illustrates its shape and sense of scale.

Tighten the mounting nut to keep the button secure on the panel during palm-operated play. Allow sufficient spacing between buttons and clearance underneath for wiring.

The hand photo is for scale reference. Perceived size may vary with hand size and the image's display scale.

Check the Pre-installed Spring

The CWB 401 is supplied with a 200g Bishi Bashi spring as standard.

200g Bishi Bashi Spring Included

A 200g Bishi Bashi spring is pre-installed inside the button. The spring affects the return action and the feel when pressing and releasing the button.

The standard supplied spring remains 200g even when the button is used in a controller for another game, such as pop'n music. If you prefer a lighter feel, check the standard specification before ordering.

Spring Rating and Switch Force Are Different

200g · Rating of the spring inside the button
OF Max. 60g · Operating force of the Gersung V-0303A06 microswitch alone

These two values cannot simply be added to calculate the operating force of the complete button. Actual feel also depends on the button's construction and assembly.

Switch Holder Assembly

Correct holder orientation and secure attachment are essential for transferring the button's movement to the switch. Check the animation and step-by-step photos before assembly.

Key Steps: Offset Insertion → Rotate to Lock

Insert the holder with its orientation offset, then turn it to lock in place. Do not force it straight in with the white actuator already aligned with the switch's red pin.

CWB-series holder assembly animation: offset insertion, then rotate to lock

01. Insert with the Orientation Offset

Turn the holder so the white actuator beneath the button and the switch's red pin are not directly aligned. Check the fitting position, then push the holder inward.

02. Rotate to Lock

Rotate the holder until the white actuator and red pin align vertically, and lock it in place. Pressing the button should now operate the switch correctly.

03. Check Locking and Return

Check that the holder is secure and the button presses and returns smoothly before connecting the wiring.

Align the actuator and pin after locking

Do not confuse this with the straight-in insertion method used by the Sanwa OBSA series. If the holder does not fit easily, recheck its orientation and any obstruction. Do not force it or twist it by gripping the terminals. Disconnect power before assembly or wiring.

Gersung Microswitch Included

When choosing a replacement switch or wiring parts, check both the standard model number and terminal type.

CWB 401 Dimensional Drawing

Check the outer diameter, dome profile, and underside structure. Dimensions in the drawing are in millimeters. The outer top diameter is Ø98 mm.

CWB 401 dimensional drawing showing the 98 mm outer top diameter and mounting structure

Click the drawing to open a larger view in a new window.

The outer top diameter and panel mounting hole diameter are different. Before cutting the panel, check the drawing and the actual mounting structure. Allow space underneath for the holder, switch, and wiring.

Above the Panel

Check the 98 mm outer top diameter and spacing to nearby buttons. Position the button so palm-operated play does not interfere with adjacent components.

Below the Panel

Allow space for the mounting nut, holder, microswitch, and connected wiring.

Before Cutting or Replacing

Check the panel hole, thickness, and mounting structure. Do not size the mounting hole using the outer diameter alone. Confirm the required mounting dimensions on the actual product or with your retailer.

Microswitch Chattering & Contact Bounce

Please distinguish the characteristics of mechanical contacts from persistent input problems during use.

Mechanical Contact Characteristics

When a microswitch changes state, its contacts may briefly make and break contact repeatedly. This is known as chattering or contact bounce. Its behavior can vary with operating speed, load, and contact condition.

Checking Input in Games

Whether brief contact changes register as repeated inputs also depends on the controller board's input processing, including debouncing. Check the holder attachment and wiring as well.

Persistent unintended inputs should not automatically be treated as normal. If repeated inputs, missed inputs, or interruptions while holding the button continue, check holder alignment and terminal contact. If symptoms persist after correct installation, contact your retailer with details of when they occur.

Reference: OMRON Chattering FAQ · FAQE20041 . This is general guidance on mechanical contact switches. The standard switch supplied with this product is made by Gersung.

Appearance of Transparent Parts

Tiny Specks & Fine Hairline Marks

The inside of the clear button top may contain tiny specks or fine hairline scratches arising during production.

Minor manufacturing marks that do not affect normal operation are not considered product defects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What spring is fitted as standard?

A 200g Bishi Bashi spring is pre-installed inside the button. The standard supplied spring remains 200g even when used in a controller for a different game.

Q. Can I use it in Bishi Bashi or pop'n music arcade machines and controllers?

Yes. This is a large round button used in those controllers.
Some custom home controllers are built with different button sizes. Please check the size information before purchasing.

Q. Is an LED lamp included?

No. LED lamps are sold separately. If illumination is required, prepare a compatible lamp, power supply, and wiring.

Q. Should I cut a 98 mm hole in the panel?

No. 98 mm is the outer top diameter. Check the mounting hole and fitting structure separately, and confirm the required dimensions on the actual product or with your retailer before cutting.

Q. What should I do if the holder does not fit easily?

Do not align the white actuator and red pin directly before insertion. Insert the holder with its orientation offset, then rotate it to lock. Do not force it if it catches.
